Last week's activity (Men's Shed Open house Sept 30)

The West Island Men's Shed is holding a Meet and Greet at the Community Resource Center (the old Train Station) in Valois. We want our West Island communities to be aware of the many volunteer services and activities we have planned for the future. Men's Sheds are all about giving back to our communities. We combat loneliness, boredom and isolation by providing seniors with a space where they can pursue hobbies, share time and become a part of a larger community. Come on out and see what we can do for you.  Monday, September 30th, from 4 pm until 7:30 pm, 114 Av. Donegani, Pointe-Claire, QC H9R 2V4

The members felt the event was a huge success. The 32 that attended was a lot more than expected. In addition, many of those who came stayed for a long period of time. The majority of the guests came between 4:30 to 6:00pm. !The total cost of the event was about $75 which did not include the donations of material and food supplies provided by some of the WIMS members. ! It was suggested that a photo album and/or slide show be used instead of continuous videos. The poster depicting WIMS events was useful as well as the listing of the main objectives of our group. As for the Open House publicity, 24 of 32 or 75% of the guests who attended learned about the event through word of mouth or by seeing it on diļ¬€erent Facebook sites. The drink and food refreshmenst was thought to be good and plentiful. A big thanks go out to Ron McKeown for all his help.  We were all busy welcoming new members, explaining what Men's Sheds are all about and just sharing our experiences with our particular Shed.  A great event, a great turnout, things are definitely moving ahead....
